Inspection & Cleaning

Keep Your Fireplace Safe, Efficient, and Code-Compliant

Creosote, soot, and debris build up every time you light a fire. Left unchecked, they cause chimney fires, smoke backup, and carbon monoxide risk — which is why the CSIA and NFPA recommend annual chimney inspections regardless of how often you use your fireplace.

Our certified sweeps perform the inspection the right way: top-to-bottom assessment, drone or interior camera as needed, full sweep with sealed-vacuum equipment, and a clear written report with photos so you know exactly what we found.

  • Level 1, 2, and 3 inspections — including pre-purchase real estate inspections
  • Full creosote & debris removal with sealed HEPA equipment (no mess inside)
  • Photo report with every job — so you can see what we saw
  • Safety checks on liner, flue, damper, firebox, crown, and cap

Signs You're Due for an Inspection

You burned wood last winter

Any wood-burning fireplace should be inspected and swept at least once a year per CSIA and NFPA guidelines.

Smoke smell or backdraft

A smoky odor or smoke coming back into the room is a sign of blockage, draft issues, or creosote buildup.

You just bought the home

Level 2 pre-purchase inspections protect you from inheriting hidden chimney defects that home inspectors miss.

Visible water damage

Staining on walls, ceilings, or inside the firebox means water is getting in — and it gets worse fast.

It's been more than a year

Even gas fireplaces benefit from yearly safety checks of the vent system, draft, and connection.

You've never had one done

If you've owned the home for years without an inspection, it's time. Catching issues early is far cheaper than emergency repair.

Frequently Asked

Questions Our Customers Ask About Chimney Inspections

How often should my chimney be inspected?+
The CSIA and NFPA both recommend an annual inspection regardless of how often you use your fireplace, plus a sweep whenever creosote reaches 1/8".
What's the difference between Level 1, 2, and 3 inspections?+
Level 1 is a visual check of readily accessible areas — standard yearly. Level 2 is required when something changes (new home purchase, after a chimney fire, system change) and includes camera inspection of the flue. Level 3 involves removing parts of the structure when serious hidden damage is suspected.
Do you make a mess inside my house?+
No — we use sealed HEPA-filtered vacuums, drop cloths, and protective coverings. Most customers don't even know we were there.
How long does an inspection and sweep take?+
Most inspection-and-sweep visits take 1 to 1.5 hours. We send a written report with photos shortly after.
Is the "free service call" really free?+
Yes — for qualifying customers, the service call fee is waived when paired with an inspection. You pay only the inspection rate.
