Chimney Cap Installation

Small Investment. Massive Protection.

For the price of a single repair, a good chimney cap prevents years of problems. Rain entering the flue causes rust, creosote chemistry issues, masonry damage, and water in your firebox. Birds, squirrels, and raccoons love uncapped chimneys — and the damage they cause is no joke.

We install stainless and copper caps with welded mesh screens, custom multi-flue covers, and specialty gas caps. Every install is sized to your flue, anchored properly, and warrantied. No flimsy big-box covers that fly off in the first windstorm.

  • Stainless & copper single-flue caps
  • Custom multi-flue covers sized to your chimney
  • Gas chimney caps for high-efficiency appliances
  • Animal exclusion with welded mesh screen

Why You Need One

Signs Your Chimney Needs a Cap

Water inside the firebox

If rain is making it into your firebox, a cap is the fastest fix. Pairs well with crown work for full top-down protection.

Animal noises in the chimney

Birds, squirrels, raccoons, even bats love uncapped flues. A cap with mesh keeps them out for good.

Smoke smell when not in use

An open chimney pulls outdoor smells (and chimney creosote odor) right into your living room. A cap helps reduce it.

Visible leaves or debris in flue

Open flues collect leaves, twigs, and debris that can block draft and cause smoke backup.

Old or rusted cap

Failing or rusted-out caps no longer do their job. Time to replace before the next storm.

No cap at all

If your chimney is wide open at the top, you're inviting every PNW weather event in. Easy fix.

Frequently Asked

Questions Our Customers Ask About Chimney Caps

How long does a chimney cap last?+
Quality stainless steel caps typically last 15-25 years. Copper caps can last 50+ years. Galvanized caps may only last 5-10 years — we don't recommend galvanized for PNW weather.
How much does cap installation cost?+
Single-flue stainless caps usually run a few hundred dollars installed. Custom multi-flue covers and copper caps cost more. We provide flat-rate written quotes after a quick site visit.
Will a cap reduce my draft?+
No — properly sized caps actually help draft by preventing downdrafts and stabilizing airflow. Cheap undersized caps can restrict draft; we always size correctly.
Can you cap a gas fireplace?+
Yes, but we use gas-rated caps specifically designed for high-efficiency appliances. Don't use a standard cap on a gas system.
